Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Green Construction Journal (GCJ) acknowledges the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in research, academic writing, and scholarly communication. The journal supports the responsible and ethical use of AI-assisted tools to improve research productivity, language quality, and data analysis while maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Authors may utilize AI-based tools for purposes such as language editing, grammar checking, translation assistance, data processing, coding support, literature exploration, and content organization. However, the use of AI tools must not compromise the originality, accuracy, validity, or scientific integrity of the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for all content submitted to the journal, including factual accuracy, data interpretation, research findings, citations, and compliance with publication ethics.

The use of AI tools must be disclosed transparently within the manuscript, either in the Acknowledgments section or in a separate statement before the References section. Authors should specify the name of the AI tool, version (if applicable), and the purpose for which it was used during the preparation of the manuscript.

Authorship and Accountability

Artificial Intelligence tools, including but not limited to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and similar technologies, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Authorship requires substantial intellectual contribution, accountability, ethical responsibility, and the ability to approve the final version of the manuscript, which AI systems cannot provide.

Only human authors who have made significant scholarly contributions and who accept responsibility for the content of the manuscript may be recognized as authors. All listed authors remain accountable for the integrity, originality, and accuracy of the work submitted to Green Construction Journal.

Acceptable Uses of AI

Authors may use AI tools for the following purposes:

  • Language editing and grammar improvement.
  • Translation assistance.
  • Literature searching and information retrieval.
  • Data analysis and visualization support.
  • Programming and coding assistance.
  • Content organization and formatting support.

Any use of AI must be carefully reviewed and verified by the authors prior to submission.

Unacceptable Uses of AI

The following practices are not permitted:

  • Listing AI tools as authors or co-authors.
  • Generating research data, results, or conclusions without verification.
  • Fabricating, falsifying, or manipulating research findings using AI.
  • Using AI-generated content without critical review and validation.
  • Creating fictitious references, citations, or sources.
  • Using AI to circumvent ethical standards of scholarly publishing.

Manuscripts found to contain fabricated information, misleading content, or undisclosed AI-generated material may be rejected or retracted in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

Disclosure Statement

Authors who use AI tools during manuscript preparation should include a statement similar to the following:

"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [Name of AI Tool] to assist with language editing and content organization. The authors reviewed and edited the output as necessary and take full responsibility for the content of the publication."

Editorial Use of AI

Editors and reviewers of Green Construction Journal shall not upload submitted manuscripts, peer-review reports, or confidential editorial materials into publicly available AI systems that may store, learn from, or reuse submitted content. Editors and reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality and comply with the journal's ethical standards throughout the editorial and peer-review process.
