Analisis Struktur Portal Baja Menggunakan Sistem Tuned Mass Damper

Earthquake-resistant structures should be designed and built whereby they are supposed to withstand earthquakes with minimum damage and without catastrophe collapse. As no structure can be entirely immune to damage due to earthquakes, the goal of the earthquake-resilient building is to ensure that the risk of collapse can be minimized or reduced. One of the ways to minimize structural damage is using a damping system, like tuned mass dampers. Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) is a mass that is connected to a structure by a spring and a damping element without any other support, to reduce vibration of the structure. Many parameters affect its performance, including its properties, location of placement, number, and percentage of mass. This article will present an analysis of steel structures that using an optimized tuned mass damper. By placing the tuned mass damper on the top floor and the outermost column, there is a significant reduction in drift, structural period, base shear, velocity, and acceleration of the steel frame.
