Abstract

Buaran I and Buaran II Drinking Water Treatment Plant PT Aetra Air Jakarta is one of the largest IPA in Indonesia producing water with a total of 5000 l/s sourced from the West Tarum channel flow (Kalimalang). IPA Buaran PT Aetra Air Jakarta has applied the principle of zero waste by having a sludge processing unit that is decanter that can raise the level of dry solid mud up to 35%. Therefore, Sludge Drying Bed (SDB) is planned to be able to accommodate the processed mud decanter jugs able to raise the level of dry solid mud through the dewatering process. The planned SDB has dimensions p = 40m and l = 7m with maximum wet mud height = 0.4m. The thickness of the arrangement of the SDB layer from the top; wet mud = max 40cm, sand diameter (1-2)mm = 15cm, gravel diameter (3-6)mm = 15cm, gravel diameter (20-40)mm = 15cm and at the base of SDB planted pipe diameter 150mm as underdrain. SDB is planned as many as 6 pieces, of which 4 are for operations, and 2 others stand by so that at the time of unit maintenance, the dewatering process is not disrupted with a total land requirement of about 2520m². One SDB unit will hold 112m³ of mud derived from decanter production for 3 days, where per day decanter can produce mud with an average amount of 37,937 m³ / day.
